Dried Roses

I have read different ways to dry roses (or other flowers) that retain color and texture. Some people are good at some things and other people are good at other things. I'm not good at dried roses.

I've frozen them, put them in sand, wrapped them in newspaper, stuck them in the bible and this last time, I hung them upside down. You can see how mine turned out. Perfect for using as poppouri, but not for anything else. They are definitely dead and colorless.

Maybe there is better advice to be found here.
