Reorganizing the Linen Closet
I'm really tired of trying to find a matching set of sheets, so I decided to do something about it. I'm reorganizing the linen closet.
This is a set of king size sheets that I folded, using the method from the following link. It actually only filled half the pillow case. It is folded over. Store Sheets and Pillow Cases.
Here is a video that does it a little differently.

The Music of Generations
A great nostalgic site! Lots of good stuff on this site from the home page. This is just such a really fun place to play! http://upchucky.com/
You can use the the little scrolling thingy on the side and see more tune choices. The diversity of music in the 50's is surprising. . . Elvis, Bing Crosby, the Coasters, the Everly Brothers, Patti Page, the Big Bopper, Johnny Cash, Louie Armstrong, Bo Didley, Rosemary Clooney, Carl Perkins, the Platters, Little Richard and Hank Williams. Music was all over the place. They knew how to have a good time! But, if oldies ain't your thing, pick any year!

A Retro Pageant
As I was searching for some information, I decided to try YouTube. I came across this video of the Mrs. Georgia 1968 Pageant. Apparently wearing a hat and being able to cook were requirements.
Also of important note... the women were only known by their husband's names and not their own. My how times have changed.

COMMON SENSE
I don't know where this came from but I like it.
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had
never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire
class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no
one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will
be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will
fail and no one will receive an A.... (Substituting grades for dollars -
something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The
students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied
little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who
studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard
decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame
and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study
for the benefit of anyone else.
To their great surprise, ALL
FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately
fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great,
but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want
to succeed.
It could not be any simpler than that.
Remember, there IS a test coming up: The 2012 elections.
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work
because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other
half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else
is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of
any nation.

Christmas Shopping
Tis the season ... and the rush is on. Black Friday, Cyber Monday; All the toy commercials. Some of us love it and some of us hate it, but most all of us do it. Are you a Wal-martian?

Trying to Move Forward
I have difficulty blogging these days. I don't seem to be able to think about anything but the loss of my husband. I go to work every day and I do the things that one does during the process of a day but I just don't seem to be moving forward. Everyone says it takes time, but it's been 3 weeks tomorrow since his funeral and I feel like I'm standing still. I can't believe the holidays are almost here. I feel like life is passing me by.
If there are any great bloggers out there with helpful advice, I'm all ears.
Also, I'm going to have to do something to earn extra income or get a second job. Is it possible to make decent money blogging? I'd love to hear how! Please feel free to comment or email me.
