New Year's Traditions and Superstitions

The New Year's Eve Midnight Kiss

Believe it or not, there’s an unwritten protocol surrounding that most iconic of holiday moments: the Midnight Kiss on New Year’s Eve... Steeped as it is in lore and tradition, the New Year’s Eve kiss can be loaded with meaning. Read more here

I came across this interesting article on New Year's Superstition on Snopes. New Year's Superstition

New Year's Stew - Every year, it is my family tradition to take all the leftovers (EVERYTHING) and put them into a stew pot. After simmering for a little while, I place portions into freezer bags to eat later. It always turns out well.

Karen Andreola's book, "A Charlotte Mason Companion" explains how to Catch a Falling Snowflake. You just need a piece of black velvet (any black cloth will work). Put the cloth outside long enough for it to get as cold as the outside air. Then you can use it to catch the snowflakes.
The snowflakes will fall onto the cloth and stay frozen just as they were when they landed there, keeping their shape. You will actually be able to see the crystals. Since it may snow here on Thursday, I thought now would be a good time to post that information... so, get your black cloth and magnifying glass ready!

This is too cute not to share.
